Commission discusses drafting annual work plan and a tabletop exercise to test the Emergency Operations Plan

Commissioners reviewed a 2014 work plan and the city's Emergency Operations Plan (EOP, updated in 2017) as starting points for an annual Public Safety Commission work plan. Ideas included setting short‑term and long‑term goals, reviewing the EOP, organizing a tabletop exercise to test roles and ICS procedures, recruiting and organizing neighborhood pods, and prioritizing a manageable set of initiatives for the coming year.

One commissioner offered to draft a proposal for goals and short‑term actions and to bring a written suggestion back to the commission. Commissioners stressed the need to balance ambition with realistic staff and volunteer capacity and to coordinate any tabletop exercise with city staff and agency partners. The commission did not adopt a formal work plan at the meeting but set a direction to prepare materials for consideration at a future meeting.
