Council adopts 2026 meeting calendar; moves November meeting to Nov. 17 and schedules Dec. 8 special meeting

City staff recommended keeping regular meetings on the fourth Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. but proposed date shifts for November and December because of the Nov. 3 municipal election and the holiday calendar.

Short noted that certification of November election results must occur within 30 days of the election; options included moving Nov. 24 to Nov. 17 or holding a Dec. 8 meeting. After discussion the council voted to place the Nov. meeting on Nov. 17 and schedule a Dec. 8 special meeting to allow time for election certification and swearing‑in, with an option to cancel the Dec. 22 meeting if not needed.

Council members discussed whether to return to two regular meetings monthly in the future and asked staff to revisit ordinance language and calendar timing after the new city clerk starts work.
