Blue Lake EDC discusses upcoming vacancies and Form 700 filing requirements

Commissioners discussed upcoming appointments and vacancies, noting that several terms are expiring and one commissioner will not seek renewal. The commission discussed residency requirements and whether business owners within city limits should count toward membership; staff said the municipal code requires at least two commissioners who are Blue Lake residents.

Staff (speaker 1) explained conflict-of-interest rules and the FPPC Form 700 filing process: "the Fair Political Practices Commission has what's called the 700 form, which I'm sure you guys have seen before," and described which commissions file electronically and which may file a paper copy kept on file at city hall. Commissioners agreed staff could prepare forms and provide guidance on which version of the form to file.
