Lantana holds community workshop on conceptual Beach Master Plan for 7.19-acre park

Town Manager Brian Raducci and consultants from CPZ Architects opened a community workshop to present a conceptual master plan for the 7.19-acre Lantana Public Beach Park. Raducci told attendees the drawings are “like the soup” — a compilation of ideas from council, staff and consultants that are subject to change based on public feedback and permitting requirements.

Joe Barry of CPZ and Eric Harrison, a landscape architect with Chen Moore and Associates, walked the audience through an east–west concept that keeps the existing dune canopy where possible, rebuilds the boardwalk and marine safety center set back from the shore, and proposes small concession walk-up structures, a new playground, splash pad, an event pavilion, 360-degree seating around a dune deck, and a potential phase-2 parking structure. Harrison said elements east of the coastal construction control line will require permitting through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Brian Raducci said town staff will translate public comment and survey results into cost estimates next month and bring recommendations to the Town Council. "We’ve got about $1,200,000 in town funds," Raducci said, adding that larger elements would require additional financing, grants or public–private partnerships. He encouraged residents to complete the two-week survey (available in English, Spanish and Creole) to help determine which elements to advance.
