Van Buren County approves 28E agreement with Lee County for W46 resurfacing; SS4A grant denied

Van Buren County approved a 28E agreement with neighboring Lee County for a hot-mix asphalt resurfacing project on Route W46 from Farmington city limits north to Route J40 (Project #FM-CO89(110)-55-89). The motion passed by roll call with Supervisor Waugh recorded as not present and Supervisors House and Meek voting Aye.

County Engineer Ryne J.R. Thornburg, who participated via Zoom, also reported that Van Buren County was not selected for FY25 Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant funding. Thornburg told the board he will pursue a debrief to learn why the application was denied and intends to reapply in the next funding round. The meeting record shows the engineer led discussion of other secondary roads matters including permits for log trucks and overweight operations.
