The Milton Board of Civil Authority recessed an appeal from VTel Wireless on July 29, 2026 after hearing the assessor describe state-assigned valuations for cellular equipment mounted on a private silo at 129 Mears Road.
Chair Jon Hughes opened the hearing and identified the location as the silo on Paul Mears’ property (parcel ID 500015.000000). Assessor Edgar Clodfelter described the property and said "its present valuation, provided by the state, is $66,000." The board confirmed the appellant had been sent the Milton BCA Rules of Procedure. Members clarified the state division handling valuations as Property Valuation and Review within the Department of Taxes.
Denise Hughes, Lonnie Poland and Kary Towne agreed to serve on the inspection committee for the site. Brenda Steady moved to recess the hearing until Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 6:00 PM; Denise Hughes seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board again noted that local adjustments to state values could prompt further appeals by either the appellant or the town assessor.
