Seniors and residents press for Activity Center kitchen, ADA fixes and modernization

Several residents and councilmembers asked the council to prioritize modernization of the Activity Center, including reinstalling a kitchen and fixing accessibility barriers. Diane Hildebrant urged getting the kitchen back and making the doors and bathrooms ADA compliant; multiple commenters said the existing ramp reaches the doors but 'once they get to the doors, they can’t open them.'

Town Manager Suzanne Harvey and SEAGO staff confirmed a comprehensive modernization could be framed as a CDBG‑eligible community facility or SSP planning candidate but cautioned the town must specify a scope for the application. "You get that opportunity to say some specific things," William Osborne told the room, advising that identifying a clearly defined project now improves competitiveness later.
