USACE, PG&E and Caltrans report design and cost milestones; PG&E relocation pegged at $5�2d7M

County project staff reported recent productive coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which identified a route to reach 35% design for the Middle Creek project. Michael Bedar said the Corps does not currently require extra County funding but needs updated utility maps and related information to advance design work.

PG&E has submitted formal applications to relocate transmission and distribution lines; the committee was told updated PG&E cost estimates show relocation work would likely take about 24 months and cost between $5 million and $7 million. An initial deposit of roughly $200,000 was identified to allow PG&E to proceed with design work.

Caltrans staff said updated Lidar mapping and elevation data reduced the project footprint and refined roadway impacts. Daniel Gjerde said Caltrans would provide revised "today27s dollars" estimates for raising sections of Highway 20 and was asked to include 3-, 5- and 10-year cost escalation scenarios, with preliminary figures expected within 22d3 weeks.
