Miranda told the commission the Keltner Road Slab No. 2 project was advertised for 21 days and drew three bids. Two bidders flagged the rebar quantity as apparently incorrect on the bid table, but the bidders wrote their concerns on their submissions and said they believed AT Urban would still be the low bidder. Miranda sent the materials to county counsel (Austin) who advised that, provided the concerns were documented in writing, the county could proceed with award.
Miranda recommended awarding the base bid to AT Urban for $175,152; a commissioner moved to award the contract, a second was given, and the commission approved the motion by voice vote. Miranda said she expects the final construction costs on rebar to come in lower than the bid’s high quantity line item and will collect the signed documents.
