Lynwood announces ALS ambulance service; board, mayor praise fire department

The Lynwood Fire Department told the Board of Trustees on March 24 that it is now providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance services to village residents. Fire Chief LaShaun Alston presented recent call statistics and said the change expands the department’s on-scene medical capabilities.

"We are now officially providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance services to the residents of Lynwood," Chief LaShaun Alston told the board, noting the department handled 110 calls for service during the reporting period. Mayor Jada D. Curry and Trustee Kirk Marshall both praised the department for its work; Marshall said he was "extremely pleased with the work that is being done by the fire dept."

The board’s public remarks tied the ALS announcement to broader public-safety improvements. The board took no separate formal vote on ALS during the meeting; the department’s report was received as part of regular reports and communications. The agenda packet and the chief’s report (submitted to the clerk) include the call tallies and contact information for the department’s public email.
