Lynwood trustees promote youth basketball camp and inaugural Gospel Fest

Trustee Bryan D. Hurt presented a community-engagement report during the meeting, describing two upcoming events. He said the Lynwood Basketball Camp will run Saturday, March 28 (9 a.m.–1 p.m.) and Sunday, March 29 (2–6 p.m.), and reported that "we already have over 120 youth registered to participate." The camp is a partnership with District 215 and Thornton Fractional South High School.

Hurt also previewed a Village of Lynwood Gospel Fest planned for May 9, 2026, describing it as a Mother’s Day weekend celebration with singers, vendors and giveaways honoring mothers. Trustee Randall K. Blakey was named as a partner in organizing the Gospel Fest. Both items were presented as announcements; no funding approvals or permits were taken at this meeting.
