Council OKs neighborhood street resurfacing contract for Cal Giesler area

The council approved a public project agreement with Toro Enterprises to perform the next phase of the neighborhood street resurfacing program in the Cal Giesler area.

Public Works Director Michael Wolf described the project as the next subphase of the city’s multi‑phase neighborhood resurfacing CIP. He said work will include a mix of treatment types determined by an engineering pavement condition index, localized repairs, and potentially state‑required ADA improvements where corrective maintenance triggers such obligations. Staff said notices and no‑parking signs will be posted in advance for affected blocks.

Councilmembers noted the use of Measure O and utility funds and asked for detail on how specific utility adjustments (manhole frames, valve cans) were estimated; staff said unit prices are in the bid and unspent budgeted amounts will carry forward to later phases. Council approved the contract and associated project allocations by unanimous vote.
