Sheriff's sergeant: June saw proactive patrols, two domestic assaults and no reported crashes in Belleair Beach

Sgt. Pion of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office delivered the monthly law‑enforcement report to the Belleair Beach City Council, citing 638 total events in the city during June and a largely proactive policing posture.

"This previous month we had 2 assaults that were documented. Both of those were domestic related," Sgt. Pion said, adding that one assault resulted in an arrest and another was documented as unfounded. He reported seven arrests for the month resulting in 11 charges overall, 65 parking violations and 25 traffic citations. "Good news, there was no crashes in the city last month," he told the council.

Pion said deputies carried out 144 directed patrols and 128 traffic stops, and located 62 illegally parked vehicles and 24 ordinance violations; 177 citations or warnings were issued (65 for parking, 25 for moving violations, 86 warnings). He also noted that most activity was self‑initiated by deputies and that many traffic enforcement contacts were concentrated on Gulf Boulevard.

Council members had no substantive follow‑up beyond thanking the deputy for the work. The Sheriff's Office report will remain the council's regular monthly briefing item.
