Council hears lengthy debate on "No Nuclear in Washington" resolution; members vote to continue discussion

Kevin (speaker S18) presented a proposed resolution asking the council to call on King County and state and federal legislators to reject tax preferences, subsidies and policies that support nuclear energy, citing concerns about safety, radioactive waste and cost overruns. "Rather than an expensive, risky, and unproven nuclear energy future, the world is quickly adopting truly affordable, available, sustainable, and non health threatening renewable energy systems," he said in opening remarks.
