Middle-school OnTrack model credited with raising promotions; board asks about vertical alignment

Darren (S9) described the OnTrack '90/10' model used at middle school, which emphasizes daily assessment and frequent reteaching rather than homework sent home. "The 9010 model is 90 percent assessment, 10% work," he said, explaining that the approach uses daily exit tickets to identify learning targets and provides in-school lunch interventions via the SOAR program.

Darren said the district saw substantial movement away from D's and F's toward higher grades and noted the model helped reduce non-promotion numbers dramatically ("only 10 students didn't promote from us last year"). Trustees asked whether and how the model can be adapted vertically — to high school and earlier grades — and raised concerns about scheduling and elective access if interventions require class time.
