To expedite reopenings under Phase 3, Mike, a village staff member, told councilors he would email every restaurant a simple registration packet that includes a site-plan template, guidelines drawn from the governor's order, and instructions about permits for temporary structures.
"I'm going to create this kind of information guide and registration packet that I'm going to send out to all the businesses via email to get the ball rolling," Mike said. The packet will reiterate the governor's distancing rules, state that tents require life-safety permits and inspections, and make clear the village can revoke outdoor-dining privileges for noncompliant businesses.
Staff said they plan to monitor the pilot period over the following week and bring any necessary adjustments to council at the June 8 meeting. Businesses are encouraged to submit the short site plan to staff for administrative review; matters involving street closures or major parking changes will return to council for formal action.
