Palatine gives staff enforcement tools, schedules June 8 review of outdoor dining pilot

Councilors built enforcement into the temporary framework: staff can revoke outdoor-dining privileges for noncompliance and call special meetings if safety or quality-of-life problems arise during the pilot.

Pat, a staff member, told councilors the village can call emergency or special meetings on short notice if important issues require formal council action. "We always have the ability to call an emergency or special meeting, with short notice," Pat said, noting that the council would handle street closures or other major steps that exceed staff discretion.

Councilors asked staff to monitor conditions during the first 10 days of outdoor dining and to return substantive problems or proposed changes for council action at the June 8 meeting.
