The Village of Palatine Police Policy & Code Service Committee voted to report out — for inclusion on the council consent agenda — a text amendment, a special use and a parking variation that would allow a consignment shop with limited hours to operate at 345 North Eric Drive in District 6. Planner staff told the committee the proposal mixes office, warehouse and limited retail functions and is not a typical eight‑hour retail operation.
Planner staff said the plan commission reviewed the application and unanimously recommended approval. Staff noted the site currently lacks accessible parking and that the petitioner has agreed to reconfigure the lot to add two handicap parking spaces to comply with state code. “The plan commission reviewed this and unanimously recommended its approval, and staff concurs,” the planner said.
Jennifer Pearl, who identified herself for the record, told the committee she is excited to open the business and described it as appointment‑based, not a drop‑box consignment model. The committee chair said the item will be placed on tonight’s consent agenda for council approval.
