Palatine names David Daigle police chief; department pins three promotions

The Palatine Village Council on July 15 formally introduced and congratulated David Daigle as the village's new police chief, and the council and village staff conducted pinning ceremonies for several promoted officers.

Village Manager Reed invited Chief Daigle and his family forward and described Daigle's career, noting he joined the department in 1993 and served as deputy chief for five years under the previous chief. Reed told the council and assembled community members: "It's my privilege introduced to the mayor council and particularly to the Palatine community, our new police chief David Daigle." Chief Daigle responded to the recognition, thanking the mayor, council and village manager and saying, "To the men and women of the Palatine Police Department, both past and present, it's been my honor to serve with you. I'm proud of each and every one of you and humbled to represent you as chief."

Minutes later the council and chief recognized promotions within the department. Manager Reed introduced Commander Bryce Baker (23-year veteran), Commander Jason Watson (21-year veteran) and Sergeant Josh Hester (13-year veteran), each of whom was presented with a badge or pin in the chamber. The meeting recessed briefly afterward to allow attendees to cross the hall for refreshments and photos.

The pinning and recognition followed routine council business and were presented before the council resumed its committee work. Chief Daigle and the council expressed appreciation to residents and department members for attending the ceremony; the new chief said he looked forward to working with the council and staff going forward.
