Palatine presents 29th annual Hometown Pride awards to 32 entries

The Palatine Village Council opened its meeting by honoring the village's annual Hometown Pride winners, a civic awards program in its 29th year.

Deputy village staff and members of the Beautification Commission presented awards across five categories ' single-family, business, multifamily, subdivision/cul-de-sac islands and Doors of Palatine ' and said the program drew 32 entries this year. "So with that, and without further ado, we'd like to present, our winners for our hometown pride," a village staff member said during the presentation.

Third-, second- and first-place winners were read and invited forward for photographs and yard signs. Single-family first place went to 311 North Fremont Street (Gail Goldsmith); other winners included 610 West Kimball Avenue (Tony Jedlinski) and 1582 North North Street (Ruth and Raul Medrano). Businesses honored included Salt Creek Park District/Twin Lakes and Lober Construction, 311 East Illinois Avenue.

The village encouraged residents to nominate properties next year and highlighted related community events such as the village's Scarecrows on Parade and downtown Oktoberfest. Village staff said yard-sign winners would receive their signs later and thanked volunteers from the Beautification Commission for their ongoing work.
