Superintendent reports enrollment dip, outlines summer learning plans

Superintendent Dr. Kathy Ludwig presented an enrollment update and a brief summary of summer learning offerings. She told the board the district is watching enrollment closely and that primary cohorts appear smaller than last year.

"The overall picture is the district is declining in enrollment," Ludwig said, noting that "last year, 3,398, and where we sit right now, 3,205" and that primary enrollment is down about "a 190 less in primary." She highlighted that full enrollment figures will be clearer in August when families finalize registrations.

Ludwig described a scaled summer program: a fee-based trigonometry course for high-school students and a flexible, needs-based virtual summer model for primary students that includes daily teacher check-ins and online literacy modules. Staff will collect pre- and post-data on literacy to evaluate the program's effectiveness going into the fall.
