Operations staff told the board the district had been awarded an additional state matching grant of $6,126,000 to support bond-eligible capital work, chiefly improvements at Wood Middle School. Staff recommended the board approve the grant agreement form and authorize execution, which the board did by motion.
"The district was awarded $6,126,000 with this grant," operations staff said. During discussion, one director raised concerns about the grant's reimbursement language and flexibility in disbursement conditions, noting the state agreement appeared to allow certain waivers. The director said she would vote yes but asked for the concerns to be noted on the record.
Staff clarified the grant is structured as reimbursement for eligible bond expenditures incurred after the election and explained the district previously designated the matching grant for specific Wood Middle School projects including roofing, mechanical and accessibility upgrades. The board voted to approve the agreement and authorize staff to execute it.
