Nueces County honors Historical Commission for preservation work

The Nueces County Commissioners Court on July 29 presented two certificates recognizing the work of the county’s Historical Commission, praising volunteers for preserving county history.

The presiding officer said the county wanted to commend the commission for its work preserving historical and cultural resources. “We are very happy and want to commend all of our historical commission members as well for the great work that you do in preserving the county,” the presiding officer said. A commission representative told the court the group contributed more than 5,400 volunteer hours in 2025 and placed five historical markers last year as part of annual projects that include Voices of South Texas at Old Bayview, courthouse display cases, and Toasted Texas.

Commissioners thanked the volunteers and invited them to attend future events and exhibitions. The court recessed briefly to take a group photo with commission members and presented the certificates in the courtroom before moving on to other agenda business.
