Board reviews executive summary of superintendent evaluation, cites budget challenges and strengths

Vice chair Vidal presented the executive summary of the 2025-26 superintendent evaluation, which the board conducted using OSBA standards. The summary cataloged the evaluation process and highlighted both areas of strength and opportunities for improved communication and governance.

The summary noted budgetary pressures and recent shortfalls: "The Westland Wilsonville School District... incurred a nearly $10,000,000 budget shortfall preceding the $15,000,000 budget shortfall it experienced in 20 24, 20 25." It also recorded that the superintendent "improved her scores in 5 or 63% of the OSBA standards" with notable progress in financial management, and commended her leadership on equity and inclusion.

Board members thanked the vice chair for the thorough process. Dr. Ludwig acknowledged themes in the evaluation and said restoring trust and improving communication would be priorities, including clearer public-facing explanations of the district's finances.
