South Fulton honors Coach Knight, Swordfish swim team and finance staff

The City of South Fulton used part of its July 28 agenda to recognize local volunteers, youth athletes and staff accomplishments.

Council presented a proclamation honoring the life and legacy of Coach Anthony "Rocket" Knight for more than 25 years of youth service in local parks and recreation programs; a family member accepted and thanked the city. The mayor and council then presented a proclamation celebrating the Swordfish swim team’s success at district and state meets; Mayor Carmelita Gumbs read the honors and the city’s aquatic coaches and athletes stood with supporters for a photo.

City Manager Sharon D. Subadan recognized finance staff for receiving the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, noting the award recognizes excellence in budget preparation and transparency. The council also accepted a Unity in the Community award from the South Fulton National Day of Prayer Committee.

These recognitions were presented during the public meeting so council could thank staff and volunteers publicly; the items required no votes beyond formal acceptance.
