Leon Valley’s City Council spent the July 29 special meeting revising a proposed city manager evaluation form and set a process requiring the manager to provide a self-evaluation before the council’s review.
The council agreed to remove ambiguous or hard-to-measure phrasing and to clarify expectations for communication, mentoring and leadership. "Tailor communication and prepare presentations with target audience in mind to ensure clear understanding, period," a councilor said while proposing a wording change to Section 1. Councilors discussed whether the manager’s written self-assessment should be optional; the council ultimately required it. As one council member read back the proposed process, they said: "Employee will provide a self evaluation, using this form, 30 days in advance and provide any supporting documentation."
