Blue Lake program streamlines painted fire-hydrant applications and supplies paint from Public Works

City staff reported that the fire-hydrant painting program has been reorganized: applicants must submit a design and application at City Hall, wait for approval notification, and then pick up paint from Public Works to complete their hydrant artwork. The commission said the process is now more streamlined than earlier ad hoc practice.

A commissioner described the practical steps: "Once it's approved, they should get a phone call that says you're approved. Come on down and get your paints," and commissioners encouraged volunteers to apply. Staff also said they keep an updated list of remaining hydrants and aim to coordinate materials and approvals so the program proceeds consistently.
