Traverse County schedules multiple bid lettings and approves road/bridge contracts

County engineers and commissioners moved forward on a set of transportation projects and related grant agreements during the first half of 2012. The board passed a resolution authorizing the county to enter into the Minnesota Department of Transportation Agency Agreement (Agency Agreement No. 99978) to accept federal participation in construction, and scheduled multiple S.A.P. project bid lettings including dates in March and April for major county reconstruction and surfacing projects.

The board opened and reviewed multiple contractor bids over successive meetings and approved contract awards where appropriate: Riley Brothers Construction’s low bid was accepted for Project Nos. S.A.P. 78‑611‑010 and 78‑611‑008; Dallco, Inc. received the award for S.A.P. 78‑611‑009; Midwest Contracting, LLC received awards for other S.A.P. projects. In addition, the board accepted several state transportation grant offers to replace or rehabilitate deficient local bridges, committing to proceed when state bond funds become available.
