Veterans at event recount military truck experience and urge hiring in trucking

Multiple veterans who spoke at the event described how military truck‑driving experience prepares them for civilian trucking careers and urged employers to consider veterans for driving jobs. A speaker who said he served as an "88 Mike" Army truck driver (Speaker 4) called the clearer pathway to high‑paying trucking jobs "encouraging." Speakers emphasized practical job skills and the fit between veteran experience and industry needs. "If you can drive the big rigs in the military, you can do it out here," said a UPS employee and veteran (Speaker 2).
