An online comment raised questions about proposed landfill consolidation and the potential impact on Lycoming County residents; commissioners responded that new management changes at the county landfill are showing early positive results.
The online comment read into the record questioned why Lycoming County would combine its landfill with the "failing Wayne Township landfill" and asked, "why would we want Jay Alexander taking over our landfill when he lost 1000000 dollars 2 consecutive years in a row for Wayne Township?" The clerk read the comment. Commissioners replied in sequence, with the Chair and other commissioners saying that in the past five months they have seen higher tonnage, increased profits, a restarted expansion and clearer leadership at the facility, and that audits later in the year will show whether the changes produced results.
