Board adopts Cinder Butte plan amendment, rezones property from surface mine to rural industrial

Senior planner Hallie King told the board the package before them included the second reading of Ordinance 2026-013 and a resolution of intent (2026-037) affecting a smaller portion of the property. "The applicant is requesting to change the zone from surface mine to rural industrial," King said, summarizing staff recommendations and noting legal counsel had reviewed the ordinance package and incorporated edits from the first reading.

Commissioners said there had been prior discussion and confirmed there were no appeals and that the City of Redmond had submitted no concerns. The board moved, seconded and adopted the ordinance by unanimous vote. King said the ordinance would become effective 90 days from the meeting and that the resolution would become effective upon approval.
