Traverse County Commissioners approved payment to Central Specialties, Inc. for crushing operations at Norcein’s pit, totaling $48,741.90. Highway Engineer Larry Haukos requested the payment and the board approved it unanimously on a motion by Commissioner Tom Monson and second by Commissioner Dave Salberg. Haukos said he had discussed lowering two pipes on County Road 68 and Hwy 75 with Moore Engineering and that MnDOT would lower the Hwy 75 pipe if the county lowered the pipe on County Road 68; the county's estimated cost to lower a pipe was $9,000 and the landowner agreed to pay one-third.
The board also reviewed a map and application for the Dollymount Dairy piping project, which will bore under and across the ditch on County Road 77 to run into the field. Haukos indicated his approval and the permit was approved unanimously (motion by Monson, second by Salberg). Haukos said he will seek watershed cost-share for the ditch work and confirm whether the contractor will clean the ditch.
