The Gregory City Council on June 22 approved a contract with Hansen Engineering to design sewer improvements in the Reynolds Park subdivision under a Texas Community Development Block Grant (TX CDBG). The council passed the motion after a staff presentation and questions about scope, bidding and change-order procedures.
Anna Aldridge of Hansen Engineering told the council the grant has been awarded and the engineering scope will include manhole improvements on Childress, Sunset and Green Street, and sewer-line replacements on Line Street and Stewart Street, with associated pavement repairs. "The application for the funds has been done and the grant has been awarded," Aldridge said. She said initial field work will determine which manholes must be replaced and that the firm will prepare a 30% report with recommended options before final design.
Council members asked whether stormwater work was included; Aldridge said it was not. The contract is structured as a lump-sum fee for the agreed scope; Aldridge said any additional work discovered during construction would be brought back to council as a change order for approval. The council approved the motion and the chair announced the contract as passed. The motion recorded affirmative responses from council members and the contract will move forward to the engineering phase.
What happens next: Hansen will begin design and provide monthly updates to council as the project progresses; the construction phase will be competitively bid in accordance with grant requirements when the design is complete.
