Carson staff and disability advocates plan programming for Paralympics and accessible fan zones

Representatives for local special-needs organizations urged city staff to plan inclusive programming for the Paralympic period. Renita Verner, founder and executive director of Autism Advocates in Action, offered her group's services for programming and pop-ups that serve families with special needs.

"We promote inclusion, and I like to be an ambassador," Verner said, requesting pop-up space and visibility. Staff responded that Paralympics programming is a major emphasis for visiting delegations, identified Dolphin Park as a potential activation site, and suggested a follow-up roundtable with disability-serving organizations to plan accessible events and services.

Officials also noted institutional opportunities tied to campus partners and existing facilities that already handle equipment and repairs for Paralympic needs.
