Avoca council unanimously adopts Ordinance 121 regulating mobile and outdoor vendors

The Town of Avoca council adopted Ordinance 121, "Rules and Regulations for Mobile Food & Outdoor Venders," during its Aug. 14, 2018 regular meeting after unanimous roll calls on first, second and third readings and adoption of an emergency clause.

Attorney Edwin McClure read Ordinance 121 for the council. Following motions to place the ordinance on first reading and then to suspend the rules and read by title only, the council voted yes on each roll call. The meeting record shows the ordinance was accepted on first reading, read again by title on second reading and accepted, then read and accepted on third and final reading; the council also adopted the ordinance's emergency clause by unanimous roll call. The file lists the motion authors and roll-call participants as Aldermen Jay King, Harry Simons, Robert Whitehorn, Kathy Hansen and Dennis Pinkley; each roll call is recorded as "yes," and minutes note "All approved. Motion carried."
