Avoca approves contractor for new pavilion at Steam Whistle Depot

The Town of Avoca council approved hiring contractor Rick Austin to complete the pavilion frame and metal roof at the Steam Whistle Depot park after Alderman Kathy Hansen reported the concrete pad has already been poured.

Mayor Thomas O'Dell presented a bid from Rick Austin listed in the minutes as $14,360 plus labor; a motion by Ald. Hansen to have Austin perform the metal work was recorded at $14,500 plus labor and carried unanimously. The minutes record the motion, a second by Ald. Harry Simons, and "All approved. Motion carried." The council also noted the park's new electric sign is up and running.

The minutes do not include a written contract or schedule; the town clerk or public works records should contain the contractor's signed estimate and next steps for installation.
