Committee urged to break out road-repair spending; chair cites Texas requirement for itemized budget

The chair urged the committee to break road repair and maintenance into discrete line items so the public can see how funds are used. He noted that prior payments included a check for "over $1,000 for labor and equipment and and another about $3,000 for engineering engineers," and argued those costs should be broken out rather than rolled into a single 'road' line.

The chair also cited state budget law, saying the guidance in "Chapter 102" requires a detailed, itemized budget. "...it says in there, you shall have a detailed and itemized budget," he said, and recommended preparing a line-item budget for roads and other public spending to improve transparency and to comply with legal expectations.
