David Zambrana, the system CEO, told the board the organization’s foremost priority is patient safety and quality. "There's nothing more important to us than providing every patient who walks through our door with safe, high quality care," he said, describing multidisciplinary huddles where doctors, nurses and support staff surface risks and share lessons from the prior day.
Zambrana said the changes reflect a cultural shift toward identifying risks before they become problems and encouraging staff to speak up when something "doesn't seem right." He credited the HRO team and named several clinical leaders for their role in the work and said the organization's reliability effort began in October 2024. The CEO also noted the system has trained more than 550 leaders as part of its quality and safety training, a metric the chair highlighted during committee reports as evidence of progress.
