Public commenter urges Pawtucket to adopt new policy on transgender participation after Supreme Court ruling

At the July 28 meeting, public commenter Robert Carradillo urged the Pawtucket School Committee to adopt a policy protecting girls' sports and privacy in the wake of a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision.

Citing the June 30 ruling and arguing it affirmed protections for female athletes, Carradillo called for the district to implement a policy conforming with Title IX "and to the Supreme Court ruling" before the 2026-27 school year begins, saying schools in other districts are already drafting similar policies. He also raised privacy concerns about access to bathrooms and locker rooms.

The committee did not take formal action during the public-comment period. Members acknowledged the comment and noted the item could be placed on a future agenda for formal policy discussion if the committee chooses to do so.
