The 1868 Foundation reported a sizable increase in fundraising, Executive Director Lindsey Koepke told the State Fair Board on July 17.
Koepke said foundation revenue currently exceeds $550,000 compared with approximately $270,000 at the same time last year, attributing much of the increase to the America 250 initiative and the bronze sculpture project. She said the foundation for the sculpture is poured and installation of the bronze piece is anticipated for mid‑to‑late August.
The Foundation also outlined plans for fundraising and donor events during the fair, including a Blue Ribbon Kickoff (Great Steak Debate) opening‑night fundraiser expected to draw roughly 400 guests. The Foundation will move its Annual Meeting of Trustees to the fair during the VIP Donor Reception and will present awards and donor recognitions including donor tiers and Lifetime Friend of the Fair honors.
Koepke confirmed several new Foundation board members joining to replace outgoing directors and encouraged board participation in fundraising events and in‑kind auction donations.
