Council to evaluate South Ogden Days format and consider an arts council

Committee member (S6) proposed a feasibility study to revamp South Ogden Days and spread activities across neighborhoods to avoid concentrated crowds: "could we develop South Ogden Days into more of a 3 or 4 day weekend where we have the food trucks... and then maybe do Saturday the concert in the park... and then do fireworks on Sunday." Several council members expressed concern about staff capacity and security needs but agreed the arts council could take on event stewardship if formed.

Staff and members agreed this evaluation should occur for FY2027 planning, with a deadline to make decisions by December 2026. The council noted a desire to balance tradition and safety; speakers suggested condensing or reconfiguring events rather than canceling them outright. Staff will draft scope for the South Ogden Days evaluation and discuss how the Arts and Events Council might be tasked with implementation.
