Residents urge council to act on creek drainage after repeated flooding

Several residents used public comment to press the council for action on local drainage and flood impacts.

Karina, a neighbor of city property on Broderick Lane, described two recent floods that affected her home and said her attempts to reach staff had not been successful. "My property totally flooded the 1st time and partially flooded this last time," she said, urging the council to improve communication and to agendize drainage and flood-response work so residents know how to participate and where to seek resources.

Marty Granger also raised broad concerns about the creek and flooding. Council members and the city manager advised residents that a council member can request an item be agendized and encouraged residents to submit issues via council emails or the city clerk so staff can prepare follow-up and, if appropriate, place a proposal on a future agenda for study or action.

Why it matters: Repeated localized flooding has produced property damage and a demand for clearer channels between residents and city staff. Council members agreed to consider drainage and communication improvements as future agenda items while staff noted the procedural steps needed to bring detailed items to a public meeting.
