City manager outlines grants and fundraising for Blue Lake bike park; $18,000 unpaid balance reported

City Manager Meggar briefed the council on fundraising and next steps for the Powers Creek bike park project, describing grant applications, planned fundraisers and partnerships with local organizations.

"I'm probably going to be asking for about 50,000 from Headwaters and probably 10, to 15 from Co Central," Meggar said, listing grant targets and community fundraising (raffles, a bingo night and merchandise). She confirmed the project currently owes roughly $18,000 and said the city is on a fundraising payment plan. Meggar described engineering, signage, fencing and insurance steps already in progress and said the park will be managed as a recreation facility with posted hours and long-term maintenance planned.

Council members asked whether revenue or rental strategies were planned; Meggar said the park will be open-access (hours posted) and that the economic strategy focuses on attracting visitors who will spend locally and on event rentals and private bookings over time.
