Sheriff: October calls and misdemeanor investigations tick up; felony cases down

The Blue Lake Public Safety Commission received its regular sheriff's briefing on Oct. statistics at its Nov. 3 meeting. Lieutenant Josh Pappam, who oversees patrol operations for the county, said the Greater Blue Lake area saw a modest rise in overall calls for service and a mixed pattern in investigations.

"Calls for service in October were up slightly from September, at 2 90 overall in September, it was 2 96 in October," Pappam said, adding that reports taken rose modestly and that felony investigations decreased from 10 to 5 while misdemeanor investigations rose to 23. He said there were no major assaults or homicides in October and described how some calls are routed or transferred to other agencies such as the California Highway Patrol.
