Commission votes to prototype refrigerator emergency magnets and solicit donations

The Public Safety Commission voted on Nov. 3 to create a refrigerator-size emergency contacts magnet, produce a prototype through a local printer and solicit donations from community groups to cover production costs. Chair Adeline Jones reported a local vendor's estimate of $200 for 500 magnets and commissioners debated including the city logo, evacuation-zone numbers and a QR code linking to zone information.

Commissioner Alex Ricca moved that the commission "get the prototype of the magnet and then proceed with letters to the various...Grange, Wanikas" to solicit donations; Commissioner Lynn Glenn seconded the motion and the commission approved it. The group agreed to have a finished prototype and draft donation letters available for the Nov. 19 city council meeting.
