Skate park celebrated as complete; bike-park winterization and LWCF grant pending

Committee members and residents celebrated completion of the long-planned skate park, a project attendees described informally as a "Bigfoot" footprint after more than a decade of planning and volunteer effort. Volunteers helped winterize the bike-park site with tarps, sandbags and fencing; staff said the site was secured on October 15 and will reopen when construction allows.

Staff said they submitted a Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant and were expecting a decision in December; presenters estimated the overall LWCF grant program allotment at about $500,000 with an approximate $250,000 component for the local project, pending award. Committee members asked about donations and volunteer efforts and sought an update on fundraising and grant timelines at the next meeting.
