District seeks $50,000 for grade‑school cameras and begins server replacement planning

Megan White presented technology and safety requests tied to the FY27 budget, highlighting immediate and multi‑year needs.

White said the grade‑school camera system (12 cameras) is not recording events reliably and proposed replacing it with roughly 14 interior and exterior cameras; she requested $50,000 to purchase and install replacement cameras and a viewing station. “So at this point, those cameras really are not functional,” she said, explaining the replacement would match the programming used in the middle and high schools.

She also warned that key server hardware is scheduled to reach end‑of‑service in March and June 2027, and that replacement could be costly: an initial E‑rate‑informed quote exceeded $250,000 though follow‑up quotes ranged from about $120,000–$130,000; White said the district is exploring phased replacement, leasing and financing options.

Additional requests included four clear‑touch panels (one each at the high and middle schools and two in grade‑school spaces), two digital media computers for a high‑use classroom, and ongoing planning for a multi‑year replacement cycle for classroom devices. White said the district is pursuing E‑rate support and vendor bids where appropriate.

Board members thanked White for planning and asked for cost breakdowns and financing options as part of upcoming budget deliberations.
