Henderson Fire Department awarded $43,408 grant; chief recognizes volunteers after ice storm

Fire Chief Doug Acred informed the board the department was awarded a Volunteer Fire Equipment Grant of $43,408 from the state fire marshal’s office to purchase eight sets of turnout gear. The board approved the purchase. Chief Acred also recognized volunteer firefighters and department staff for their work responding to calls during the recent ice storm, describing conditions as 'treacherous at times.'

Aldermen expressed gratitude for department heads and city employees for storm response and continuity of essential services.
