County staff say roundabout could cut peak delays at Tracker Road intersection

Miss Miranda discussed the Tracker Road intersection study and said the consultant submitted an intersection control evaluation indicating a roundabout would be the preferred solution. She said the roundabout would greatly reduce peak-hour delay and lower crash potential, but the design will go to a public meeting for comment before a final choice is made.

Miss Miranda gave an example of time savings and safety: ‘‘with the signal that knocks it down, 20, like, 20 seconds off of that, however, a roundabout knocks it down to a total of a 7 second delay," and added roundabouts reduce conflict points and crashes. She cautioned that utility relocation and coordination with a nearby school could add cost and complexity.
