Belleville council honors Brunchbox youth baseball for championship run

Mayor Velez and council members recognized the Brunchbox youth baseball team with a formal proclamation during the opening of the July 28 council meeting. The proclamation, read by 3rd Ward Councilman Vincent Casarelli, congratulated the team for capturing the World Series championship and for developing players ages 7 through 12.

Casarelli, who invited the players and coaches to the dais for photographs, noted the role of the team’s new sponsor and the work of the coaches and volunteers. "This championship marks the team's 1st season with this new sponsor, BrunchBox, whose support helped contribute to another successful year," Casarelli said. The council commended the players and the community partners who support youth sports in Belleville.

The recognition was ceremonial; no formal action was required. Organizers said they would schedule a brief public photo moment after the meeting.
